The National Archaeological Museum and Park of Luni hosts a new event in the Dialogues in Archaeology series, dedicated to the presentation of Augustus and the Power of Images by Paul Zanker.

First published in 1987, the book is a landmark study on the relationship between art and power in Imperial Rome. Through monuments, statues, and decorative programs across the empire, Zanker shows how Augustus developed a new visual language capable of conveying the values and ideals of his rule. Images played a key role in promoting the idea of an age of peace and renewal, becoming a powerful tool of political communication.

The volume will be discussed by Giuseppina Legrottaglie and Fabio Guidetti.
Introduction by Marcella Mancusi.

An opportunity to explore one of the most relevant themes in the study of the ancient world: the relationship between images, communication, and power.
