Scopri la storia della città di Luna

The Roman colony of Luna thrived for over a thousand years. The Romans began occupying the territory on which the city stands in the early 2nd century BC, establishing a foothold in preparation for the conquest of Spain. In 177 BC, two thousand Roman citizens took part in the founding of the colony of Luna, sponsored by the triumvirs M. Aemilius Lepidus, P. Aelius Tubero, and Gnaeus Sicinius. Each settler was allocated 13 hectares in an area roughly between the Magra River and the present-day municipality of Pietrasanta.
